Born in 1993 in Sant Cugat del Vallès, Anna Campmany is...

Composer

This year she premieres her first cantata 'El Secret d'Egipte' at L'Auditori de Barcelona and on tour around Catalonia. It has been commissioned by the social project 'Canta Gran' of Barcelona City Council and L'Auditori, among other works. Her composition 'Excelsior' has been recognized as the best work in Catalan language at the Orfeó Català International Choral Composition Contest, and 'Naixement al Palau' has received an honorable mention at the Clavé Awards.

 

She has received commissions from groups and institutions such as the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana (in celebration of its 30th anniversary at the traditional Sant Esteve concert), the Secretariat of Children's Choirs of Catalonia, the Institut de Cultura de Barcelona (project 'Barcelona Creació Sonora'), the Metropolitan Union Quartet, the Bruckner Barcelona Choir, the Veus Choir, the Orfeó Català Children's Choirs, the Polifònica de Vilafranca (in celebration of its 75th anniversary) or the Voxalba Choir. She is currently receiving her first commissions as a soundtrack composer.

 

Her music has been performed (or will be this year) at the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Toulouse International Choral Competition, Barcelona Obertura, Montserrat Abbey, Teatre Kursaal, L'Atlàntida, the Auditori de Girona, the Auditori Enric Granados, the Auditori Eduard Toldrà, the Musicant Festival, the Ressona Festival, the Fringe Festival of Torroella de Montgrí, the Core of the Choirs and Orchestras System of Venezuela, the Reina Sofía Conservatory in Madrid, in the churches of Alba and Bergamo, etc. Also her work 'Error 404' premiered the mechanical interface of the Arciorgano of the Musik Akademie Basel, and was selected by the Musikmuseum Basel as a sample for the routine visits of its Orchestrion. Ironically, the instrument was never able to play it due to an inexplicable error.

 

She obtained the Minor in Composition at the Hochschule für Musik Basel and completed the subject of Filmscoring at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu, obtaining the highest qualification.

Soprano

She graduated at the Conservatori Superior del Liceu with Dolors Aldea, being a finalist in the center's extraordinary awards, and obtained a Master's degree in singing at the Hochschule für Musik Basel. Her career as a soloist goes through halls such as the Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Theater Basel, the Teatre Auditori de Sant Cugat or the Kursaal Theatre, under the baton of directors such as Xavier Puig, Elisenda Carrasco, Daniel Barenboim, Stephen Delaney, Jürg Henneberger or David Hernando, and alongside the Vallès Symphony Orchestra, the Staatskapelle Berlin, the Bratislava Symphony Orchestra and the Phoenix Basel Ensemble, among others. She has performed opera, oratorio, lied, musical-operetta, numerous shows for children and especially contemporary music. She has also starred in an opera-film at the Tête à Tête festival in London. Her discography includes 'Sanctus Missae' by Josep Vila, 'Música i Paraules', 'Cantata Simfónica Antonio Machado y Leonor Izquierdo, in memoriam' by Jaume Aguilar, recordings of children's songs and his cantata 'El Secret d' Egipte' by the 'Canta Gran' project of L'Auditori de Barcelona among others. She has also performed at festivals such as the Fringe Festival in Torroella de Montgrí or in events at the Parliament of Catalonia.

 

She is a regular singer in groups such as the Chamber Choir of the Palau de la Música Catalana, the World Youth Choir, the Francesc Valls Choir, Barcelona Ars Nova, Bach Collegium Barcelona, Flora Vokalensemble, Intermezzo, or the AAOS choir. She has also been a member of the National Youth Choir of Catalonia, the Sant Cugat Children's Choir, Aglepta and the Canticel Choir among others.

She has been awarded in different narrative, poetry and drawing contests at local level, such as the Children's March Drawing Contest. Campmany is a self-taught illustrator, and receives commissions for sheet music covers, concert projections, decorative plates, etc. He has also occasionally received jewelry and tattoo design commissions. He often writes poems for his compositions, among other texts, and explores high ground such as dance (samba).
